I have been practicing street photography since 2023. For me, it’s a way to immerse myself in the present moment and in the energy of the city. Street photography is a particular form of attention to the world: capturing mostly candid everyday scenes and turning them into images that lie somewhere between artistic creation and documentary work. The camera and flash disrupt our usual ways of encountering strangers. A different kind of connection is established — a brief, unexpected pause that depends on what both the passerby and the photographer bring to it. Ultimately, it’s about rethinking the ordinary experience of otherness in urban flows. A central focus of my work is navigating the “in-between” moment. This photographic moment (Candid → In-between → Posed) explores people’s reactions at the exact instant they become aware that a photo is being taken. Neither fully posed nor entirely candid, this fleeting moment — when the presence of the camera disrupts and reshapes interaction — is charged with a wide range of emotions: surprise, joy, indignation, anger… Through this project, I invite both participants and viewers to reflect on their relationship with self-image in an era where smartphones and social media have fundamentally reshaped social norms and behaviors. My style is raw and dark, with strong contrasts, blur… and questions. Co-founder and curator of Hakoibon Kollectiv (@hakoibon_kollectiv)
